Advocacy Law Alliance provides services such as individual advocacy for people with a disability through Disability Advocacy NSW and legal advice and representation through the Mid North Coast Community Legal Centre.
Advocacy Law Alliance (ALA) advocates to achieve fairness and equality for disadvantaged groups in the community. ALA governs and supports three programs: Disability Advocacy NSW (DANSW), Mid North Coast Legal Centre (MNCLC) and Disability Law NSW (DLNSW). DANSW provides non legal advocacy services to people with a disability, the MNCLC provides legal advocacy to disadvantaged groups and DLNSW provides legal assistance to clients of Disability Advocacy NSW. We believe the strength of our organisation lies in combining the expertise of different professions (lawyers, social workers, disability workers) to achieve the best outcomes for disadvantaged clients. As well as providing direct advocacy assistance to clients our organisation is involved in community education, systemic change, law reform and research to ensure that disadvantaged people get a fair go.
Mid North Coast Legal Centre (MNCLC) assists disadvantaged people living in the Mid North Coast region, including MidCoast, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Kempsey, Bellingen, Nambucca and Coffs Harbour (to south of Woolgoolga).
MNCLC offer a range of legal and related services. Possible services include but are not limited to:
* Legal Information and referral
* Legal Advice
* Advocacy and representation for particularly vulnerable clients
* Community legal education
* Law reform and public policy development and advocacy
Disability Advocacy NSW (DA) helps people of all ages with any type of disability or mental illness get fair treatment in the Hunter, Western Sydney, New England, Mid North Coast, Far West NSW, Western NSW, Central Coast, Blue Mountains regions of NSW, AUSTRALIA.
An advocate can provide individual advocacy and help get fair treatment: from government departments, disability services, other services and businesses; at work, university, school or TAFE; with accommodation, transport and access; with legal, healthcare or money issues and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Disability Advocacy NSW also assist with systematic advocacy issues and provide education sessions.
Disability Law NSW provides independent legal advice and assistance to clients with disability accessing Disability Advocacy NSW for advocacy support throughout most of NSW.
Disability Law NSW works within the MNCLC legal practice and solicitors are supervised by the Principal Solicitor.
Disability Law NSW works with people with all types of disability including mental illness.
